If anyone runs into this issue while Windows 10 does not have the "Turn off TouchPad While Typing" setting, and setting the Touchpad Sensitivity to Low doesn't resolve it, I recommend trying the TouchFreeze app. There are other similar apps available which I have not tried which may do the same thing. It's doing its job and has resolved the issue, and has no advertising. There is no interface per se, just a right click menu. The only setting the app has is whether to run at Windows start or not. It appears to do the job of the "Turn off TouchPad While Typing" setting, and only that. I then installed a third party app named TouchFreeze. I was able to install it, but it did not install the system tray app I was looking for, nor did it create any additional settings. So I tried an earlier Synaptics driver from 2013 which did have an Extract Only option. Under Mice and pointing devices in device manager there is only HID-compliant mouse. It would not install, it simply ran and stated "This driver is not required". Select Synaptics touchpad driver from the list, right-click it. It did not have an Extract Only option, only an install exe. I attempted to install a Synaptics driver from an earlier model XPS which came with Windows 8.1. Setting this to Low has not helped in this case. I gathered from my reading that earlier versions of Windows 10 did offer the "Turn off TouchPad While Typing" or its equivalent, as several articles I cam across direct users to that setting under Mouse and Trackpad in Settings, but that later versions have apparently eliminated that setting in favor of the Trackpad Sensitivity setting.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem? I am unable to find any setting that resembles the "Disable Touchpad While Typing" setting I have used in the past to resolve this issue. There is a Touchpad Sensitivity setting, which we set to Low, yet this has not helped the issue. On this laptop there is no such setting anywhere in Touchpad or Keyboard settings. I read of a "Touchpad Delay" setting under Settings > Touchpad, with a recommendation to set it to Long to resolve this issue. The client complained of the cursor jumping around when typing. On this laptop the touchpad is managed by Windows 10, there is no 3rd party driver for the touchpad.

There was a BIOS update and several other updates from Dell that installed with no errors. I performed the initial setup, and installed all available Windows updates and also all available Dell driver and firmware updates. A client just purchased a Dell XPS 15" Windows 10 laptop.
